A Superb Rococo Tea Caddy and Sugar Box Set (SOLD)
London, 1747, by John Swift
Height of caddies: 6 3/16", Weight: 56 oz. 9 dwt.

This exceptional set is among the finest surviving rococo examples of the form. The caddies have been in the boss’s personal collection for many years. We recently found the sugar box in London. Re-united, they rank with the set by Lewis Pantin in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and those by Paul de Lamerie illustrated in Grimwade’s Rococo Silver. Although they do not have a wooden case like the former, nor the magical PL mark of the latter, in terms of beauty we feel these are the best set of all.
