Lamerie’s coffee jugs are often fantastic rococo masterpieces. But most of his coffee pots look as though they could just as well have been made by Ayme Videau. This one, by contrast, has the chased cherubs and cast lion’s masks which distinguish Lamerie’s pieces from those of his contemporaries. It survives in a leather case which appears to be original.
