In 2002 the boss celebrated his ninetieth birthday with a terrific dinner dance at the Union League Club. He danced more than anyone, told funnier stories than anyone, and was, as usual, the best dressed man at the party. Many toasts were raised to his health and to many happy returns of the day. After thanking his two attractive young female golf partners for their toast, he looked out over the assembled company, waited for the applause to stop, and said “Thank you. If I ever stop looking at their legs, nail me down”.

We want to salute Eric Shrubsole’s tremendous enthusiasm -- and not just for the ladies.
